An internal political struggle unfolded around the Russian gas pipeline in Germany. This is stated by FAN.
The commissioning of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline is necessary for the successful passage of the heating season in Europe.
Germany was one of the first European countries to feel the problem of the energy crisis, for this reason German politicians openly condemn any attacks on the Russian pipeline project. This opinion was expressed by Anton Bredikhin, a member of the Scientific Council at the UN RAS “Socio-political problems of the formation of the EAEU”, editor-in-chief of the “Archont” magazine.
“The Germans do not intend to cut the branch on which they are sitting. They need Nord Stream-2 for their own energy security. The situation with Nord Stream-2 acts as a litmus test for who is a friend and who is not. That is why the Germans snarl at the desire of the United States to impose sanctions on the Russian gas pipeline”, Bredikhin said.
The expert is sure that the current realities have clearly demonstrated that for the German community, national interests are higher than party interests. The Green Party is an excellent example of Bredikhin’s point of view.
“At the same time, Nord Stream-2 is also an instrument of the internal party struggle. Therefore, Friedrich Merz uses it in his rhetoric, seeking to strengthen his position in the opposition for the post of head of the Christian Democratic Union”, Bredikhin sums up.
Earlier, News Front spoke about why the new German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, will need to support the launch of Nord Stream-2.
