“We must use it”: Austria asks for Nord Stream 2 to be commissioned

The German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has reported that Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has called for Nord Stream 2 to be put into operation

Foreign Minister Schallenberg said the Nord Stream 2 pipeline should be commissioned as soon as possible, he said in a statement to the EU Council of Foreign Ministers.

“The project has been completed, now we have to use it”, – Schallenberg said.

The minister said it was a “mistake” to repeatedly question the operation of the pipeline, given recent tensions with Moscow amid the conflict in Ukraine
