The Ukrainian parliament has approved a draft law on allowing foreign military forces to enter Ukraine to take part in multinational exercises in 2022
An explanatory note to the bill specifies that 106.5m hryvnyas (almost 4m dollars) will be spent on the preparation for multinational exercises in 2022. This year Kiev has spent about 35.5m hryvnyas (1.43m dollars) on training manoeuvres.
“The admission of foreign troops concerns the United Forces – 2022 exercise, the Ukrainian-American Rapid Trident – 2022, the Ukrainian-British Cossack Mace – 2022, the multinational exercise Light Avalanche – 2022, the Ukrainian-Polish exercise Silver Saber – 2022 and a number of others”, – the text of the law reads.
According to military expert Viktor Litovkin, despite the support from the United States, Kiev has failed to create a military power capable of defending its state borders.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier complained to the Italian publication La Repubblica that Russia wanted legally recorded guarantees that Kiev would not join the North Atlantic Alliance.
