Russian ambassador to Britain Andrei Kelin said that Ukraine’s possible accession to the North Atlantic Alliance would have extremely unpleasant consequences
“Ukraine’s accession to NATO will have a whole set of consequences, which are absolutely unacceptable and unacceptable for us. Not only for us but also for European security in general”, – Kelin was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.
The diplomat stressed that Russia will have to “repel everything that poses an unacceptable threat” with great difficulty and great economic costs. According to him, if Kiev joins the North Atlantic Alliance, NATO bases will be deployed on Ukrainian territory.
As previously reported, the Verkhovna Rada has approved a draft law on allowing foreign military forces to enter Ukraine to take part in multinational exercises in 2022.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky complained to Italian publication La Repubblica that Russia wants legally recorded guarantees that Kiev will not join the North Atlantic Alliance
