US military officer says how long it would take Russia to destroy Ukrainian troops in case of conflict

US Marine Corps veteran Robert Lee believes that Russia will destroy Ukrainian troops in 30 minutes. Some Kiev officials hold the same opinion

In the event of an armed clash, Russia would destroy a significant portion of Ukraine’s units in less than an hour, The New York Times quoted Robert Lee, a professor at King’s College London and US Marine Corps veteran, as saying.

“They can destroy Ukrainian troops in the east very quickly, within the first 30-40 minutes”, –  Lee clarified.

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate, believes that without help from the West, Ukraine cannot fight back against Russian troops in the event of a full-scale conflict. In his view, this is virtually unrealistic.

“Ukrainian soldiers will very quickly find themselves incapacitated and the military leadership will not be able to coordinate the defence. As a result, frontline commanders will have to fight alone, but no army in the world “can stand without the delivery of reserves”, –  Budanov added.
