Russia worries about accumulation of US troops in Greece

Russian leader’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin was concerned about the concentration of US and NATO troops in Greece

“The problem is very simple. More and more NATO and US soldiers are being concentrated in Greece. Hundreds and thousands of pieces of military equipment are being moved through Alexandroupolis and so on.  New bases are being opened for NATO, while at the same time NATO is calling us an enemy. The alliance openly declares that their main goal is to contain Russia. This worries us”, –  the spokesman said.

Peskov also said that Moscow understood that Athens was bound by circumstances and the defence agreement with NATO and the US.

The spokesman summed up that he treats Athens as a partner and would like to continue to do so. After all, Greece is a sovereign country and has the right to make independent decisions that differ from EU policy
