Polish statements on Russia-Europe relations are provocative – senator

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki issued an ultimatum to Russia regarding relations with European countries, claiming that Moscow allegedly “wants to divide Europe”

Poland’s Morawiecki also called on Russia to make up its mind: it wants to be with Europe or against Europe.

Andrei Klimov, head of the Council of Federation’s Commission on Protection of State Sovereignty, assessed the statements and called them provocative and that they were aimed at weakening the EU and Russia as geopolitical rivals of Warsaw’s overseas patrons.

Klimov stressed that in Europe itself, including in the highest political circles of the EU, “it is Warsaw that is seen as an American agent of influence in the Old World”.

Since, according to the politician, it was Warsaw that imposed the EU in 2008 “Eastern Partnership” to further split the post-Soviet space, which led to the Ukrainian crisis in 2014, the Belarusian 2020 and similar confrontational events.

Klimov recalled that in Brussels, too, Poland is very unhappy with its behaviour inside the EU, defining its actions as aimed at splitting the European Union.”

“Thus, “the statement of Polish prime minister is clearly calculated for naive fools, has obviously provocative nature, plays into the hands of those who, inciting confrontation in Europe from across the ocean, wants to weaken both the EU and Russia as geopolitical competitors of the United States in the 21st century,” – summed up the head of the Council of the Federation.
