The US continues to build up tension with Russia’s imaginary invasion of Ukraine. Already experts have been found giving recommendations to save Kiev
Retired US Navy Colonel Mark Kansian has come up with two ways to “protect” Ukraine. This was reported by Moskovskiy Komsomolets, citing the publication Breaking Defense.
Kancian said that the Center for Strategic and International Studies conducted an analysis and concluded that tens of billions of dollars would have to be spent to protect Kiev from “Russian aggression”. The main problem is that the Armed Forces are poorly equipped. The colonel called it “battle-hardened,” but omitted the fact that the personnel are categorically unqualified.
The US military officer suggested that the solution would be to send international forces to Ukraine and contain Russia with their presence. But he acknowledges the fact that with a real offensive they would have to retreat. He also envisages providing Kiev with $850 million to spend on infrastructure improvements to move reinforcements quickly.
The second option is almost the same, just to move more troops so they don’t retreat, but also to wait for reinforcements. This option is much more expensive and would require an exercise and the deployment of additional units.
Kansian has calculated the costs: the states would have to allocate $27 million for infrastructure and military equipment, while the annual expansion and maintenance would cost $11 billion. That said, Americans are against sending troops overseas and spending money on it.
