Russian Federation Senator Alexei Pushkov noted the inconsistency of the policy of the Baltic countries, which began talks on increasing electricity imports from Russia and Belarus instead of seeking help from their allies
Earlier, Ain Kester, a representative of the Estonian system operator Elering, said that the Baltic republics had started talks on the issue of increasing electricity imports from Russia and Belarus.
In September, Lithuanian authorities decided to limit the capacity at the junctions with Belarus so that electricity from the Belarusian nuclear power plant would not reach the market of the Baltic states.
“Somehow the Baltic states behave inconsistently. Why don’t they buy electricity from the USA – in full compliance with their geopolitical choice? They can buy electricity from the UK – also a close ally…And let the NATO allies, by the way, load Latvian ports and railways. Allies, right?”, – said Pushkov in his Telegram-channel.
