The Ukrainian authorities are not ready to settle the conflict in Donbass, as Kiev has managed to “sell” it to the West, said Rodion Miroshnik, representative of the delegation of the Luhansk People’s Republic in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG).
The politician said that the sociological group Rating conducted a survey in Ukraine, according to which it became clear that the team of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has succeeded in “hushing up the issue of a peace settlement”.
According to the survey, only one in ten Ukrainians is familiar with the content of the Minsk agreements, but one in two is of the opinion that the agreements should be rewritten.
“The Ukrainian authorities are very protective of the conflict because they have learned how to “sell” it to the West and monetise it. Naturally, it is about the elites who are feeding on this, while the people must simply not understand what is going on. They are being driven into a dead end with the message – here is the recognized move, but it is the wrong one. The result is the continuation of the conflict”, – Miroshnyk noted in his Telegram channel.
Notably, 75% of those surveyed said that the Minsk agreements were not a commitment and therefore the Kiev authorities could refuse to implement them. It is also worth noting that for 4 years the number of those who advocate the need to revise the Minsk agreements has doubled.
