Macron holds phone conversation with Zelensky – sides discuss Normandy format

French President Emmanuel Macron has held a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. The leaders of the countries discussed the possibility of resuming the Normandy format meetings

“Talked with Emmanuel Macron about unblocking the Normandy format and the work of the TCG. We agreed on common next steps. Discussed threats to Ukraine’s energy security and diversification of energy sources”, –  Zelensky said on Twitter.

As previously reported, Zelensky held telephone talks with US President Joe Biden. The sides discussed the situation in Donbas, sanctions against Russia in case of “aggression” and Ukraine’s NATO membership. According to political scientist Yevhen Filindash, official Kiev does not make independent decisions and is fully dependent on Washington’s inputs.

Verkhovna Rada MP Yevhen Muraev has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky used to be a beloved artiste but has become a hated president for millions of Ukrainians. The residents of the country have completely stopped believing in possible military support from the United States in case of “aggression” by Russia.
