U.S. will not dare to impose sanctions against the energy sector of the Russian Federation

Washington will hesitate to impose energy sanctions on Moscow even in the event of a real, not imaginary, war between Russia and Ukraine.

Information about possible restrictions was denied by the American television channel CNN, citing its sources in the United States government. It is reported by Izvestia.

They said that officials had indeed prepared a package of sanctions aimed at enterprises in the Russian energy sector. However, the likelihood that it will enter into force is extremely small.

In an interview with the TV channel, a government source said that the introduction of these measures is “a more extreme option.” According to him, they will definitely not be used immediately, but will remain in the “back pocket.”

The official also acknowledged that such sanctions could hurt the United States itself. If the oil and gas companies of the Russian Federation find themselves under restrictive measures, the world will face an inevitable rise in the price of energy resources. This will affect the Americans, which will further bring down the rating of the owner of the White House, Joe Biden.
