NATO releases British S-400 clone to hunt Russian fighters

The British Army will receive new CAMM systems. This is reported by the portal Life.ru.

The characteristics of the British complex Sky Saber raised a number of questions from military experts. In particular, analysts noted the uselessness of an air defense complex with such a “monstrously low range.”

“The range of conventional missiles of this complex is about 25 kilometers. The range of ER modifications is approximately 50-60. In the Russian army, this complex would occupy an intermediate link between the air defense of short and medium ranges, therefore, such a weapon cannot perform any very complex tasks – such weapons can be used against supersonic or maneuvering missiles, but a large amount of software computing power is needed”, – explains the officer of the air defense troops in reserve Andrei Surok.

Immediately after the demonstration of the British “sabers”, The Times, citing sources in the British defense department, announced the opening of a hunt for Russian Su-57 fighters. Lieutenant Colonel of the Russian Air Force in reserve Andrei Golovin was surprised at the ambitious statements of the British.

“The Su-57 really does have missiles with a launch range of 50–80 kilometers, and in theory the British are, of course, right: to hit the Sky Saber, the fighter needs to enter the radar range. But this is a matter of a second – I flew where it was necessary and immediately launched. Further – the lapel and back. Apparently, the developers make such statements without fully studying exactly how the fighters operate, do not take into account that drones can “weed” the field in front of them. Not to mention the fact that there is long-range aviation with missiles of several hundred kilometers each”, he said.

The technological component of the British Sky Saber lagged behind modern weapons by about 20-30 years. A step into the future, such a development can only be due to the outdated Rapier complex, the achievable range of which is even shorter than that of the British air defense system’s successor.

Earlier, the Pentagon expressed concern about the spread of modern Russian weapons in the world, in particular, the newest S-400 Triumph air defense systems. The United States is so scared of the advantage of the Russian Armed Forces that it imposed sanctions on countries that simply bought Russian equipment.
