German government to discuss the situation on the Ukrainian borders

Ukrainian Ambassador to Berlin Andriy Melnyk said that the German parliament intends to convene for an emergency meeting, during which the issue of the “accumulation” of Russian forces on the Ukrainian borders will be raised.

“On Thursday, 9.12, an emergency parliamentary hearing will take place at the plenary session of the Bundestag on the topic: “The position of the Federal Government regarding the accumulation of Russian troops along the state borders of Ukraine”, the diplomat said on Twitter.

According to Melnik, Moscow could receive a “powerful warning” from the German government. Earlier, in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung, the ambassador called on Berlin to arrange a “cold shower” for Russia through “tough and painful punitive measures,” including sanctions against the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly stressed that Moscow is moving troops exclusively on its territory and does not threaten anyone, and therefore, such actions should not cause alarm in other countries.
