Potential US sanctions against Russia terrified Europe

Readers of The Telegraph were afraid that because of the West’s threats to Russia, Europe would be left without heating in winter.

The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Joe Biden made the British think about their personal interests.

During the online summit, the American leader mentioned that the United States, together with its allies, are ready to impose tough economic sanctions against Russia if it “attacks” Ukraine. Among other threats, there was a warning that Moscow could be disconnected from the SWIFT payment system. This scenario did not suit the audience of The Telegraph.

“Since the sanctions against Russia will most likely lead to the suspension of Russian gas supplies, then we here in Europe, apparently, will have to get pretty cold this winter!” – commented a British reader.

“Without Russian gas, most of Europe will freeze over this winter because of our insane flight from nuclear energy and carbon to renewable energy sources,” said another reader of the British publication.
