“The European Union must not only follow the mainstream of United States policy, but also advocate a complete boycott of the Winter Games,” Behr said.
She added that the diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics, announced by the United States, comes with a delay, and this is the “least” that can be expected from the West.
The Winter Olympic Games in China, in the opinion of the EP deputy chairman, are “the wrong site in the wrong place.”
“It is impossible to calmly watch Beijing at the Winter Games as a gigantic ‘propaganda staged’ while the Chinese apparatus violates human rights,” she said.
