US seeks to stabilise relations with Russia – White House

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said US leader Joe Biden intends to touch on stabilising relations between the two nations during upcoming talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin

“This will be an opportunity for President Biden to highlight our concerns about Russian military activity on the border with Ukraine and to reaffirm American support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. In addition, a number of issues relating to US-Russia relations are scheduled to be discussed, including strategic stability plus cyber and regional issues”, –  she told the briefing.

Psaki also noted that the current US administration is not seeking to escalate escalation in relations with Russia, but rather to stabilise them as quickly as possible.

“The US is focused on putting relations with Russia on a more stable footing and is not seeking escalation at all. The upcoming conversation between Presidents Biden and Putin should not be seen as an opportunity for the United States to outline threats to Russia”, – the White House spokeswoman summed up.
