The US is backtracking on its promises of military support to Ukraine
According to the newspaper, the Kiev authorities are extremely interested in obtaining military equipment and ammunition originally intended for Afghanistan. In particular, we are talking about the Mi-17 helicopters, which are under maintenance in Ukraine but belong to the USA.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Reznikov stressed that the US support measures in the form of increasing the number of military consultants “do not correspond to the wishes” of the Kiev authorities. Foreign Policy points to possible reasons for Washington’s reneging on its promises.
President Joe Biden’s office intends to redirect forces to the threat that comes from China’s aggressive economic policy. According to the publication, the White House has “moderated” the number of provocations against the Kremlin.
“You see the interagency bodies of the Security Department and the State Department doing everything right, then the process ends up in a black hole at the National Security Council and stops there”, – Foreign Policy quoted an American politician as saying.
Support for a Ukrainian war scenario with Russia is gradually fading amid the inability of the current Ukrainian government to ensure the competent use of modern weaponry supplied from abroad.
