Protests against COVID restrictions turn into clashes with police in Belgium

In Belgium, hundreds of people marched in central Brussels to protest against tougher coronavirus restrictions.

The protest turned into clashes with law enforcers when the protesters reached the block of EU institutions.

It is specified that firefighters took part in the action. The protesters were dispersed with water cannons and stun guns. The most active protesters threw firecrackers and empty bottles at law enforcers.

Earlier, on December 3, the Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre De Croat announced that kindergartens and primary schools would close for the holiday season a week earlier and now children had to wear masks from the age of 6. Earlier, authorities closed nightclubs and ordered bars and restaurants to close at 11pm for three weeks.
