Kiev begged the US for weapons destined for Afghanistan

Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov asked Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin in November to expand the supply of weapons, including weapon systems that were intended for delivery to Afghanistan, Foreign Policy reported

“The list of weapons Reznikov presented to Austin, which had not been previously reported in detail, included air, maritime defence and electronic warfare capabilities”, – the publication said.

Kiev was reportedly interested in the ammunition and Mi-17 helicopters destined for Afghanistan, which are undergoing maintenance in Ukraine.

The publication also reported that Joe Biden’s administration was considering options to strengthen the Armed Forces in case of an alleged “possible Russian invasion”, including the supply of weapons not included in the list of the Defence Ministry’s head.
