Gazprom’s maximum gas price for Europe has become a mockery for Ukraine

Ukrainian expert Valentyn Zemlyansky said that Gazprom’s gas price for Europe at the end of 2021 was twice lower than the spot price at which Ukraine buys the gas

According to Zemlyansky, Gazprom’s price, which the company considers high, looks like mockery to Ukraine. This country is forced to import blue fuel at spot prices which remain in the range of 1,000-1,100 dollars per 1,000 cu.m.
The expert also ironically recalled Zelensy’s attempts to deny that the country’s energy sector has more serious problems than other states.

“While we dream how good everything will be for us, reality dictates its agenda. “Gazprom has announced prices for the fourth quarter for European consumers. They will be $550 per thousand cubic metres. “It’s not about the price quotations at the hubs, which we used to discuss and which continue to fluctuate around $1,100, but the long-term contracts under which Gazprom supplies gas to its European counterparts”, –  said Zemlyansky.

The increase in the price of Russian gas for Europe has to do with the inclusion of a reference to spot in the pricing formula. The Europeans themselves insisted on it in pursuit of “market purity”.

“According to the calculations, it turns out that the annual average price of Gazprom, which was expected to be $269.6 per thousand cubic meters in August, has been adjusted, and now they are expecting $300 and a bit. How big this ‘small’ will be, the results of the year will show”, – Zemlyansky concluded on Sistema Info’s YouTube channel.
