Ukrainian dies in Poland after being detained by police

A Ukrainian migrant worker died in Poland when he was detained by local police officers. The man died after the police arrested him.

The portal Rubaltic.ru reports about it, referring to Fakt.pl. The incident was reported by the press service of the Skierniewica District Prosecutor’s Office of the Lodz Voivodeship, where the tragedy took place.

Law enforcement spokesman Krzysztof Kopani said that the Ukrainian behaved aggressively and threatened passers-by. According to him, he attacked a woman who was standing at a bus stop with a stick. At the same time, Kopani claims that civilians tried to stop the rowdy before the police arrived. At least three people detained the Ukrainian before the police.

The representative of the prosecutor’s office said that the law enforcement officers did not use any violence against the Ukrainian and simply handcuffed him. However, the man soon became ill and lost consciousness. Doctors from the ambulance brigade tried to resuscitate the man, but they could not save him. The deceased was 38 years old.

The prosecutor’s office said that it intends to establish all the details of the incident and find out what caused the death of the Ukrainian. It is worth noting that just a few weeks ago in September, the police beat a young worker from Ukraine and he died.
