WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeyer has said there are no data yet on deaths due to the new COVID – 19 ‘omicron’ strain
“I have not yet seen records of deaths related to the omicron strain. But we are collecting all the evidence and there will be more because more countries are tracking it and testing people. So we will have more infections, more information, but hopefully not deaths”, – Lindmeyer noted.
He said preliminary studies so far only suggest that Omicron may be more contagious than all previous variants of the coronavirus.
