EU: sanctions growth against Lukashenko’s regime continues unabated

The EU has expanded the sanctions list against the regime of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko

The list of restrictions was added up with 17 individuals for their involvement in the persecution of opposition activists and the creation of a migration crisis on the border with Poland. These are high-ranking military officials of the Belarusian Border Guard Service, judges of the Supreme Court, and prosecutors.

Also sanctioned were 11 legal entities, including the national air carrier Belavia, the Belshina company, and the fertilizer manufacturer Grodno Azot. All of them were involved in the financing of the Lukashenko regime.

In connection with the situation with illegal migrants and the crisis they provoked, sanctions were imposed on the state company Tsentrkurot, hotels Minsk and Planeta and several other companies that organized the transportation of migrants from Iraq and other countries to Belarus.

We would remind you that the US also imposed new sanctions against Belarus, affecting 20 individuals and 12 organizations.
