US laboratories in Ukraine pose biological weapons risk – Poppel

Despite the fact that in the last two years COVID-19 has been perceived as the only dangerous virus, the threat of biological weapons continues to persist, Austrian geopolitical analyst Patrick Poppel said

According to the expert, in the event of a large-scale armed conflict between Russia, Europe and the United States, there is a risk of biological use of chemical warfare agents. Poppel said that the parties to the conflict would use any means available.

“In World War I poison gas was used as a chemical weapon, and World War II ended with the use of nuclear weapons. Who can rule out the possibility that biological weapons will not be used in a third world war? Activities in this sector of US research abroad should be subject to more control by international organizations”, –  the analyst concluded.

Earlier Vyacheslav Sutyrin, political analyst, stated that the United States continues to allocate funds to biolaboratories in the post-Soviet countries under the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program: Biological Threat Reduction.
