Implementation of Minsk agreements could resolve conflict in Donbass – Blinken

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said in an interview with Latvian television that the crisis in Ukraine can be partly solved by implementing the Minsk agreements

“The Russians say they think the Minsk agreements should be implemented. The Ukrainians say the same thing. I believe that if this were to happen, it would at least solve the Donbass problem in eastern Ukraine”, –  the State Department chief said.

Notably, Blinken blamed Russia for the failure to implement the Minsk agreements. According to him, Moscow allegedly “has not fulfilled its commitments” that Russia made during the negotiations in 2014-2015. Recall that Russia has repeatedly stressed that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict in Donbas, but is in favour of full and strict implementation of the Minsk agreements.

“We call on all sides to return to a ceasefire at the levels of July 2020”, – Blinken stressed.

According to political analyst Andrei Zolotarev, the implementation of the Minsk agreements is impossible under the current government in Ukraine. Military correspondent Yuriy Kotenok said that the Kiev security forces have repeatedly violated the agreements by using Bayraktar strike drones purchased from Turkey.
