Britons condemn NATO secretary general for threatening Russia

Readers of British The Telegraph criticized NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg

Earlier, Stoltenberg said that Russia has no right to demand that Ukraine give up its membership in the NATO bloc. The decision will be made by the alliance partners, not guided by Moscow’s opinion. The British expressed concern over the “insane” statement by the secretary-general.

“If Stoltenberg and his buddies do not intend to expand NATO eastward by threatening Russia, they should give an ironclad guarantee to that effect. Otherwise Russia has every right to make appropriate preparations to defend itself against NATO aggression”, –  one reader commented.

One user noted that the North Atlantic Alliance had previously promised not to move towards Russia’s borders, so Moscow had the right to demand the right of veto in deciding Ukraine’s membership of the bloc.

“Ukraine is not a NATO country, so NATO has no obligation to defend it. Frankly, I cannot believe that all NATO countries would approve of NATO engaging in a military confrontation with Russia over a non-NATO country”, –  the network wrote.

The paper’s British readers believe Russia could be a strong ally for the global community, as evidenced by the cooperation of numerous countries, particularly China, with Moscow.
