Zelensky admitted that Ukraine failed to gain independence

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, during his annual message to the Verkhovna Rada and the people of the country, said that 30 years ago Kiev declared independence, but never managed to build it.

Every year on December 1, the President of Ukraine issues an address to the people of the country in connection with the anniversary of the All-Ukrainian referendum in 1991, when Ukrainians supported the proclamation of independence.

“30 years ago we took a big step, but we never went further. We restored, proclaimed, we gained an independent Ukraine, but we never began to build independence. Independence from other people’s influence, foreign interests, where the law is one for everyone and the law decides everything, and not one decides everything and for everyone it is the law”, Zelensky said.

According to the Ukrainian president, his team “Servant of the People” has been “fighting for the independence of Ukraine” for 2.5 years. It is noteworthy that the inhabitants of the country have a completely different opinion. According to a social survey, more than 58% of Ukrainians are against Zelenskiy running for a second term.
