The first Russian VSHORAD [Very Short-Range Air Defense] “Gibka-S” air defense system is ready for serial production.
This is reported by TASS, referring to the statement of the industrial director of the cluster of weapons, ammunition and special chemistry of the state corporation “Rostec” Bekkhan Ozdoev. The Mechanical Engineering Design Bureau, which is part of the High-Precision Complexes holding, has already carried out the necessary training.
“The export-oriented modification of the Gibka-S air defense system is fully ready for serial production,” said a representative of the corporation.
Valery Kashin, general designer of the bureau, admitted at the EDEX 2021 international arms exhibition that successful tests of the complex ended in 2019. His colleague, head of the KBM export-import department, Alexander Romanyuk, added that it includes serial missiles of man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS). He will be able to use ammunition “Igla-S” and “Verba”.
