US Senate blocked the adoption of the defense budget due to the “Russian threat”

Republicans have blocked the rapid adoption of a defense budget in the Senate amid demands to discuss the “Russian threat.”

A simple majority vote to end the debate on the defense budget with the further adoption of the bill did not receive the 60 votes out of 100 required by the procedure.

Earlier, the leader of the Republicans in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, said that his faction would not support such a decision without proper discussion of the “Russian threat”, supplying Ukraine with weapons and sanctions on Nord Stream-2.

The Senate should have time before the end of the year to discuss the budget, defense budget and adopted by the House of Representatives a massive plan for spending on social and climate spending worth $1.8 trillion.
