U.S. afraid of a possible war with Russia over Ukraine

In a hypothetical clash with Russia over Ukraine, America will face massive losses, said retired US military intelligence officer Rebecca Koffler, RIA Novosti reported.

“The US would have suffered catastrophic losses in a war with a nuclear power like Russia. Such a war would have been impossible to win and the result would not have cost the lives of American citizens”, quotes a Fox News expert.

In her opinion, in order to “self-defense” Russia can resort to a preventive response by inflicting devastating space and cyber strikes on US territory. With its recent tests of anti-satellite missiles, Moscow has demonstrated its ability to shoot down American satellites.

As soon as the first strike is struck, a nuclear war could well begin in the world and the American energy infrastructure will be in jeopardy, Koffler warned.

The analyst also recalled that no one was able to defeat Russia on its territory.

“It is enough to ask Napoleon, Hitler and the Swedes, whose army was defeated by Russian troops under the command of Peter I in 1709. So is Ukraine among the vital US security interests? Is the security, territorial integrity and long-term survival of the United States somehow dependent on Ukraine? In both cases, the answer is an unequivocal no”, Koffler concluded.
