Germans ridiculed Ukrainian foreign minister fearing “Russian invasion”

German newspaper Die Zeit has published an interview with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba where he called the “pulling” of Russian troops “to the borders” of the country a “genuine threat” to the country

In his opinion, the alleged troop build-up is an attempt to “destabilize” Ukraine and other European countries. In this regard, he called for support for Ukraine as “a natural part of the European and Euro-Atlantic community” and its accession to the EU and NATO “only a matter of time”.

The publication drew an active response from German readers in the comments.

“What will Russia gain from the war, can anyone explain to me? Kiev should do more to implement Minsk-2″ than keep asking for more weapons and money”, –  wrote user Friedrich Brinkmann.

“‘Ukraine’s membership in both alliances is only a matter of time. He can happily believe that. But it’s not just about the minister’s opinion”, – DasImperiumSchlagtZuruck pointed out.

“Rarely do I read so much nonsense. It probably explains a lot about politicians in Ukraine”, –  jsber remarked.

“This man will be helped, he will find an audience in the person of future foreign minister Annalena Berbock, who has a critical stance on Russia. The US will certainly support Berbock for geostrategic reasons. “However, I can hear the gun rattling in his words, I still hope that the Greens will stick to the diplomatic route”, –  said another commentator.

“We’ll see what’s left of all this military hysteria in the end”, –  Maander59 added.

Recall that Kiev and Western states have recently expressed concern over allegedly intensified “aggressive actions” by Russia near Ukraine’s borders. Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly stated that Russia is moving troops within its territory and at its own discretion – no one is threatened and no one should be concerned.
