Ukrainian readers have been angered by the German government’s call not to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2
The German government has urged the US Congress not to impose sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, noting that the pipeline poses no threat to Ukraine.
“We are concerned that renewed unilateral action by Congress would seriously weaken transatlantic unity towards Russia”, – the document said.
The publication prompted an active response from readers in comments under the Facebook news post.
“Sold out to the Germans with their guts, and still blackmailing America”, – said user Valentina Babak.
“What puppets!” – Nina Yakovleva said indignantly.
“Nuclear weapons have already been lured away, where is the security, statements they send worried, you can’t be trusted, full stop”, – wrote Viktor Zavorotko.
“We need to get ready to defend ourselves! Don’t expect any help from them!” – Sergei Mikhailov urged.
“Germany will be very concerned. That’s what it’s all about”, – Galina Budnik lamented.
Vitaliy Ilnitskiy said”, – That’s the one who has his own house on the edge”.
“Own skin is closer to the body”, -Sergiy Stepanets added.
We would remind you that in the middle of November the German Federal Network Agency suspended the certification of Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent operator that started on 8 September. The procedure is necessary for the pipeline to comply with the updated EU Gas Directive – the pipe must either be partially filled by an alternative supplier or its section in the EU must belong to a third party company.
