Saakashvili taken to court for hearing in one of his cases

Former Georgian President Saakashvili has been brought to Tbilisi City Court for a hearing

The prisoner has been transferred from the Gori military hospital to the Tbilisi City Court, where a hearing in one of his cases will begin at 11:00 a.m.

“Saakashvili was taken to the city court building as we speak. We can say with certainty that Saakashvili will address the nation today”, – the report said.

The session will be devoted to the case of the dispersal of the opposition rally in 2007 and the seizure of TV station Imedi, in which the ex-president is accused. This will be the politician’s first public appearance since his arrest.

The first hearing in the case took place on 10 November. Saakashvili was then prevented from entering the courtroom for security reasons. The court has already lifted Saakashvili’s preventive measure of arrest in the case, but the politician remains in custody because he is convicted in other cases.
