Russian Foreign Ministry tells of preparations for Putin-Biden summit

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said work on preparations for a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Joe Biden is at an advanced stage

“We are at an advanced stage in terms of the usual preparation of relevant materials for the Foreign Ministry”, –  he said.

In addition, Ryabkov explained that the meeting is not expected to be in a face-to-face format.

“We are talking at this stage about contact not in person, but the importance of the event, of course, does not diminish in any way. It is out of the question, especially taking into account the combination of current circumstances and problems that exist both in bilateral relations and in the international arena. The contact of the Presidents, in my opinion, will be a very major milestone”, – said the deputy minister.

However, he said there is no final clarity as to when exactly and in what format the meeting will take place.
