Germany’s call not to impose new sanctions against Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has met with approval in Russia. Ukraine.ru writes
Presumably, Washington will not abandon the last announced package of sanctions against the Russian side, but then no new restrictions will be imposed on NSP2. This opinion was expressed by Nikita Danyuk, deputy director of the RUDN Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts and a member of the Russian Public Chamber.
“It is primarily European business, and German business in particular. Of course, the sanctions situation is unpleasant, but there is no way it can stop the start of the full-fledged implementation of Nord Stream-2”, – the politician believes.
Danyuk also believes that the new sanctions from the US will not affect certification of the pipeline, however, he says, “the Germans have driven themselves into a trap” and are forced to begin a confrontation with Washington over Russia’s Nord Stream – 2.
