The UN says Ukraine is one of the leaders in extinction

The number of Ukraine’s population continues to decline rapidly, the United Nations said in an analytical report on “Demographic Processes”

According to the UN, by 2050 the population of Ukraine may shrink to 35 million people. The authors of the document said that the causes of total extinction are a low birth rate, high mortality rate and growing migration.

The organization’s experts believe that Kiev can stop the population of Ukraine from dying out by creating a stable political and financial system, through which the authorities will provide social protection to its citizens. The last census, held in 2001, counted 48,240,902 Ukrainians.

Earlier, former Social Policy Minister Leonid Lebedev said that the birthrate in Ukraine has plummeted, the marriage rate has fallen and domestic violence has increased.
