Rostislav Ishchenko, President of the Center for Systems Analysis and Forecasting, said that the American authorities do not care who the president of Ukraine is, because anyone will support US policy.
Including Zelensky is trying to maintain contact with Washington, but does not want to be among the first countries to fight with Russia.
“It is in American interests to give a damn about the current Ukrainian president. Americans are well aware that any Ukrainian president will be pro-American. And who eats whom in Ukraine – they don’t care. While Zelensky is trying to both get pleasure and preserve innocence, demonstrating, on the one hand, his readiness to escalate the conflict, on the other, this happens only at the level of statements”, Ishchenko said.
The political scientist also believes that Ukraine can get involved in the war only if, for example, Poland or the Baltic states attack Belarus.
Kiev can take such a step with an eye on the reaction of the West.
We will remind, earlier the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, the leader of the Radical Party Oleg Lyashko said that on December 1, at a meeting of the NSDC, Zelensky could raise the issue of introducing martial law in the country. And this, according to him, is an absolute restriction of all constitutional rights of citizens of Ukraine.
