More than a hundred minibuses lined the main square in Chisinau in front of the Moldovan government today, demanding a review of tariffs because of rising fuel prices
“We have come here because we can no longer work under the previous conditions, petrol and diesel have become very expensive, the cost of spare parts has increased, and there are fewer passengers. If the fare does not go up, we will simply have to stop flying, because we are operating at a loss”, – said the protester.
According to the protesters, the last time the Moldovan authorities revised the fare was in 2019, when it was increased to $3.4 per 100 kilometres. At the moment, drivers want to be paid twice as much. The Ministry of Infrastructure considers these demands to be unjustified
