Protests were held in major Turkish cities demanding the resignation of the incumbent government amid the collapse of the local currency
Protesters shouted “Justice and Development Party – resign”, referring to the ruling Justice and Development Party led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In Ankara, many people responded to the call of the “Communist Party of Turkey” (CPT) and took to the streets with pots and pans.
It is noted that police are taking action to disperse the protesters.
The exchange rate of the Turkish lira against the dollar plummeted to a record high on Tuesday, November 23. At 11:51 Moscow time, the price per dollar was 12.48 lira. At its highest, the lira dropped to 13.21 per dollar, a historic record for the past 20 years.
