Russia and Tajikistan plan to merge air defence systems

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a document on a joint air defence system with Tajikistan for ratification to the State Duma, the document was published in the electronic database of the Russian State Duma

It is noted that the document envisages the creation of a joint strategic air defence system with Tajikistan. It will be a part of the joint air defense system of the CIS countries.

The purpose of the joint air defense system of Russia and Tajikistan is to enhance the effectiveness of air defense tasks in the region. The agreement is valid for five years after ratification, with the possibility of prolongation.

After the president approves the agreement, it must be ratified by the parliament of the country.

The fact that Russia and Tajikistan would create a joint air defence system became known in mid-spring. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu explained that the countries had prepared a draft agreement aimed at improving the reliability of airspace protection over the state border.
