Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky has said that Washington is particularly benefiting from the conflict in Donbass, which borders Russian territory
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal wrote that the United States had failed to convince European countries that Moscow was allegedly preparing an attack on Ukraine. It has emerged that Washington is holding briefings to make Europe aware of Russia’s “aggressive plans”.
“In fact, Washington continues to test the strength of European sovereignty and its willingness to sacrifice it for the sake of notorious Euro-Atlantic solidarity. But here’s the question: have US diplomats talked about how Ukraine, under American patronage, has consistently sabotaged the implementation of the Minsk agreements? Or about how Kiev is using combat drones in Donbass?”, Slutsky noted in his Telegram channel.
In the MP’s opinion, Washington is far from establishing peace in Ukraine and resolving the situation in the Luhansk and Donetsk people’s republics. Slutsky stressed that it was important for the US to “maintain the conflict near Russia’s borders in an active stage in order to justify NATO’s eastward expansion and the alliance’s excessive activity in the Black Sea.”
“However, this is a very dangerous situation; it is also dangerous for American allies in Europe. I am sure there is an awareness of reality there too, not everyone is an admirer of anti-Russian mythology and is blindly following the fairway of Washington. And that is why the Russian President’s initiative on security guarantees is becoming increasingly relevant. And, as reality shows, we are talking about the security of our common European continent”, – concluded the politician.
