WSJ: Europe does not believe US claims of “Russian aggression”

Washington has failed to convince European countries that Russia is allegedly preparing to attack Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal writes this, citing its sources among European diplomats

“New information, the latest in a series of recent briefings by US officials, has reinforced European capitals’ understanding of the serious nature of the Russian military build-up, two [European] diplomats said, but some countries are not convinced that Russia is planning an offensive in Ukraine”, –  the publication wrote.

The Wall Street Journal’s sources noted that the new information was provided in order to “raise the level of concern” of Europeans towards Moscow, as “their wariness has weakened in recent weeks”.

Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow was not developing “aggressive plans against Ukraine” and it was completely wrong to associate any movement of the Russian Armed Forces across the country with such plans”.
