The policy of massive U.S. sanctions against inconvenient projects and undesirable states threatens Washington’s relations with Europe, but does not harm the launch of Russia’s new pipeline, NSP2. FBA Economics Today writes
The new possible US restrictions are primarily aimed at maintaining the anti-Russian political movement in the world. Political scientist Vladimir Solomonov shared this opinion.
“In essence, the US is now fighting the bring, because the fate of Nord Stream-2 has been decided – the pipeline will be certified in the near future. Yes, now there is some incomprehensible delay of this process by the Germans, but it only harms residents of the European Union who continue to live in an energy crisis,” – he said.
The expert particularly notes the tendency of Joe Biden’s policy not only to support the partner states, but also periodically to make life considerably more difficult for them in the interests of the US.
“If you take the US and the EU – they are partners not only politically and economically, but they are also security allies. It would seem that you see that the Europeans are now living in an energy crisis and Nord Stream 2 is, one might say, the only instrument that can somehow help the EU, but you impose yet another round of sanctions, which, naturally, impose certain restrictions on the activities of those implementing the project. You are not trying to help the EU itself, you are selling LNG to the Asian market. What kind of diplomatic relations can we talk about then?” Solomonov concluded.
Recall that earlier the news agency Bloomberg predicted the launch of “Nord Stream – 2” in a “couple of months”.
