US cutters “Island” arrive in Ukraine

Two US cutters of the “Island” type, which were transferred to Kiev as part of the provision of logistical assistance, have arrived in Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Navy

“Today, November 23, on board the vessel “Ocean Grand” from the city of Baltimore, Maryland, USA to Ukraine arrived 2 boats of type “Island”, named “Fastov” and “Sumy”. At the moment the boats have entered Ukrainian territorial waters,” the navy said.

The final stop of the route is the Odessa Sea Trade Port, where customs control will be carried out. After that, the boats will be towed to their basing places and prepared for operation after a long transportation. It is also noted that the Fastov and Sumy boats will soon fly the Ukrainian Navy flag, after which the vessels will be sent to “ensure maritime safety in the Black and Azov seas”.

It is worth noting that not only the United States prefers sending decommissioned equipment to Ukraine as a gift. As it was reported earlier, Lithuania intends to transfer to Kiev a broken Aero L-39 Albatros training plane, which was decommissioned from the Lithuanian army.
