Moldova promises to fulfill its obligations to Gazprom

Chairman of the Board of JSC Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban claims that the company will pay the debt and will not allow the cessation of gas supplies to the republic, Interfax reports

Earlier it became known that the Russian company Gazprom has sent a notice to Chisinau that gas supplies will be stopped if Moldova does not pay the next payment. However, the republic’s infrastructure ministry said it had not received the notice.

“We are talking about the payment of consumption for October and half of the payment for November. We have a special gap because the old tariff was in force in October, based on the price of $150 per thousand cubic meters. We were buying at $800 per thousand cubic metres. On November 1, the tariff went up, but now we receive money only for October, while the import price was many times higher than the tariff”, –  Cheban said.

According to him, Chisinau is currently working on a solution to this problem and will soon make the payments. Just to remind you, Moldova and Gazprom have signed a gas supply contract for five years. Previously, the Moldovan authorities had to declare a state of emergency amid acute shortage of gas.
