Situation with migrants at the Belarusian-Polish border may turn into a humanitarian crisis

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky believes that Poland is being too rough on migrants, using water cannons and tear gas against women and children

At the same time, the European Union is habitually “using” double standards, blatantly ignoring such actions of Warsaw and continuing to make threats to impose tougher sanctions against Minsk.

All this is happening with the support of Big Brother: Washington has already promised to introduce another package of sanctions against Belarus in coordination with the EU for “continuing attacks on democracy”.

“A kind of déjà vu is emerging. Washington sent several thousand troops to the Mexican border in the autumn of 2018 to deter Central Americans. The media then reported that US border guards were separating children from their parents and keeping them in cages. They received no food or basic necessities. Where are the sanctions for “attacks” on basic human rights? And the condemnation of the world community? Or is it ‘different’ again?”,  – Slutsky wrote in his Telegram channel.

Nevertheless, Belarus, despite all threats and accusations, continues to make real efforts to prevent humanitarian crisis: Lukashenko instructed the governor of Grodno region to prepare a logistics centre for receiving migrants. By such actions, Minsk demonstrates its full readiness to participate in solving the problem, which was provoked exactly by its Western critics with their irrepressible geopolitical ambitions and continuation of colonisation campaigns against the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

“Isn’t it time for the European Union to open its eyes, stop throwing smoke bombs and get involved in the actual search for a constructive solution?”, – concluded the Russian politician.
