Expert: certification of Nord Stream 2 won’t last long

And the certification process of the gas pipeline will resume as soon as the German regulator and the owner of the pipeline come to a compromise

Gennady Ryabtsev, head of special projects at NTC Psyche, said.

“Most likely, there will be some kind of compromise between the requirements of the regulator and the wishes of the owners of Nord Stream 2″. <…> It may probably manifest itself in a conditional transfer of ownership rights, a formal change in the shareholder structure or clarification of a number of norms in the charter documents”, –  the expert explained.

According to Ryabtsev, “settling the legal issues” will not take long and the technical issue will be resolved in the coming weeks.

Germany’s Federal Network Agency on Tuesday suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent operator until it creates a German subsidiary to reapply. The German Federal Ministry of Energy described BNA’s decision as “purely regulatory”.
