Boris Johnson, the British prime minister, believes the European Union should prevent the launch of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline
The British head of government has a “good reason” – to “protect” Ukraine. He said this during a speech at the Lord Mayor’s Banquet to business and diplomatic representatives in London, 112 reported.
“We hope our friends will understand that a choice is about to be made – between channeling more and more Russian hydrocarbons into giant new pipelines and defending Ukraine and championing the cause of peace and stability”, – Johnson said.
It is worth noting that he did not have the courage to voice directly the name of the pipeline in question. However, it is quite obvious that he was talking about Nord Stream 2.
The EU is now in the process of approving NSP2. Its regulators are deciding their decision and conducting certification. On this wave Johnson has decided to join Ukraine and the US that are crying out about the dangers of the pipeline. According to him, the EU must “confront” Russia and do whatever is necessary to “undermine this great country”.
