London is trying to curtail the labor rights of Ukrainians. The UK is sponsoring changes to labor laws in Ukraine.
This is reported by the “Strana.ua” edition, referring to the website OpenDemocracy. Experts point out that the changes that the British are trying to push through contradict the labor protection provisions of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
The UK Foreign Office is in close contact with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and advises it on changing labor laws. Since September last year, London has even helped Kiev financially.
Ukrainian officials are urged to “note” that liberalization of labor legislation will bring “positive results” for Ukrainian workers. All statements on this matter should be made “easier and more emotional.”
“In January 2020, the Ukrainian government made a sharp turn towards liberalizing labor laws and depriving trade unions of their property and rights after the protests began in society,” wrote OpenDemocracy.
It is worth noting that London is not happy with this approach in Europe. The European Federation of Trade Unions noted that it creates a climate hostile to Ukrainian trade unions.
